View Full Version : Amina - can we do anything to stop the stoning?

I read an incredible artivle in the Times Magazine a few days ago, it was from last saturday I think. Anyway does anyone know how we can rpevent the stoning of those like Amina who are innocent of their crimes? Can we stop the politicians from inciting hatred for the christians (for the record I'm not saying they are superior, I'm just saying they should not be attacked, neither should any muslims be attacked, but as far as I know they aren't under any threat)? Sharia gives no justice, just needless suffering for those it should protect and the true criminals get away with it because they have money to pay off anyone who may get in the way.

This disgusts me, there must be something we can do. If no one replies to this thread then I will know che-lives is full of heartless people, I was surprised no one posted on either of my Amnesty threads, I though at least someone would have something to say. Obviously i was wrong.

I'm not necessarily asking for abswers here, but they would be good. I just want to know if there are like-minded people here.

I think there are really only two options to end the violence. One is a revolution which is highly unlikely and the other is to petition our own governments and foreign governments to stop injustices like Amina's and to support campaigns like Amnesty. There is little else we can do.

I didn't actually see any of your Amnesty threads because I'm not here as often as I was. Could you give me the links to them and I'll read over them? Cheers.

As for people being heartless, I do not think so. I think that many of these threads come up again and again and can get repetitive and everyone thinks that someone else will post in it. Essentially its almost laziness.

the amnesty threads are in chit-chat and practice, I posted them a week ago, they're pretty obvious if you look.

yes, I know what you speak metalbunny (like the i.d.). as I was saying...I do have some information yet I don't know if it will help one's understanding of the problem regarding injury to the religious or possibly add to the hopelessness.

It is my drunk hunch that many Christians who were guaranteed protection are not being protected yet persecuted.

One must remember anyone can take a good name and in deceit destroy that good name. It happens alot.

Amina? Not familiar with the name. Forgive the vibrations of my words, I often sound off topic. I'm like devil music playing backwards! lol. it's a bad joke, I know.

I can dig up the information that I have and share it here (I'm not home at the moment).

In the meantime if you don't mind, can you briefly explain the name?

as BOZG said there is little we can do, we protest about not going to war they go to war, we protest about injustice, it still happens.

WE NEED A REVOLUTION

Im not heartless, as the almost cliched Che quote goes "revolutionaries are guided by love"

Amina is a woman who is due to be stoned to death because she was raped and got pregnant, but because the man denied it was rape she will be stoned for fornication. It's very harsh (the only way it can be proved a man has raped a woman if he denies it, is for 6 other men to have seen it happen!).

Does anyone know how long we have before Amina is due to be stoned?

This is from the BBC:

Amina Lawal, who was sentenced to be stoned to death for adultery, initially accepted the judgement until lawyers took up her case.

After an international outcry, the federal government has promised that the death-by-stoning sentence will not be carried out on Ms Lawal or anyone else.
