YFIS SCHOOL IN GLASGOW

Dear comrades,

Youth For International Socialism (YFIS) www.newyouth.com is very pleased to invite you to our one-day school in Glasgow.

In this last period, YFIS has been very busy building support against the war in Iraq as well as supporting the Fire Fighters' struggle. These are at the moment our main points of struggle.

We oppose Bush's open-ended "war on terror", which is nothing more than an excuse to rampage around the globe. The root causes of terrorism are poverty, oppression, degradation, ignorance, and humiliation. As none of these causes can be eliminated under capitalism, we are faced with perpetual war so long as the exploitative system of capitalism continues.

See the special articles on the subject in the In Defence of Marxism web www.marxist.com
at http://www.marxist.com/waronterror.asp

We also feel that the Fire Fighters dispute is an extremely important one, not only for the Fire Fighters themselves but also for other public sector workers who are in similar conditions. This dispute could give important lessons of struggle to low paid workers and YFIS supports it actively.

Youth for International socialism gives special emphasis to the role of theory because we consider Marxism our guide to action. This is why we organise regular schools to discuss the classics of Marxism and other current subjects.

The details for our Glasgow YFIS school are the following:
