I normally don't really rely on mainstream media, specially corporate. I usually check out the indy stuff and if i gotta go mainstream I log on to BBC or Al-Jazeera. anyways I always see reports and photos of the Chavez opposition rallies. and from what the news shows they are massive. streets filled with people yelling anti-chavez slurs and holding all kinds of banners against his reforms and the whole 21st century socialism.

There are very little pictures or reports about the Chavez supporters. which makes me a bit un easy. because I know the average person having the news as there only source and since they don't read, its easy for them to just think everyone of the vast majority is opposition!

are there any polls or statistics that show numbers of register voters for his party or just something that shows that balance between the "yes" and "no's" for chavez??

Revolutionary demonstrations in Venezuela are generally 2-4 times the size of the reactionary protests you're talking about. Bolivarian demonstrations consistently draw several hundred thousand red-clad workers and youth.

The international media always makes it seem like Chavez ralles are small and that the opposition is HUGE. Take this article from today's BBC:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7121487.stm

First, they don't even show a picture of the pro-Chavez rally because if they showed the amount of people in it, the international bourgeoisie media would be embarrassed.

Second they state, "Supporters of the "Yes" campaign, who have begun taking to the streets, are due to hold their final rally in the same spot in central Caracas." Anyone spot the contradiction??? Their have been a HUGE number a pro-Chavez rallies since freaking 1999 and they say that pro-chavez rallies have "begun" taking to the streets, only to then say they'll hold their "final" rally soon????

Third, they state, "On Thursday, a huge crowd gathered in the capital to voice their opposition to the planned changes." Even bigger crowds pro-chavez gathered three weeks ago in Mérida and no international media covered it. Every week there are bigger crowds of pro-chavez rallies but they state how huge the opposition is (which usually number about 2000, in compared to pro-chavez rallies which compare to 10,000 to 100,000+ people).

Finally the only person in rally they show is an anti-chavez person painted in blue while they don't show the face of the pro-chavez people painted in "roja rojita".

exactly what I mean. they always show massive pictures of flooded streets of anti-chavez people.. and i gotta admit. it does look like a SHIT LOAD OFF people are against the guy from those pictures. and when they show the pro-chavez rallies they are smaller.. (according to the pictures)
