In regards to the recent Taser deaths in the US and Canada. I believe tasers are way to dangerous to be used any longer. The death rates are much lower to the success raes BUT, they can kill. It is usafe to use because of many peoples health conditions. If someone realy neds to be capacitated, use pepper spray. Cops are just way to eger to tase everyone. They also continuously do it. I see it as torture.

Ban the Taser?
What do you think?

Off course the taser should be banned, just like any less-then-lethal weapon, but off course that will never happen, since they are the wet dream of every government, they are perfect to stop protests while the people who use them and the people in power can still uphold their respectability.
Normally, in the case of massive, unarmed popular uprising, the government has to choose between schooting at the protesters or attacking them with batons.
Schooting their own civilians is not something most governments like to do and batons can be overcome by the protesters.
The LTL weapons are therefore the perfect solution to this problem.

The point is not to ban tasers themselves, but to oppose them being in the hands of the police and considered as some kind of softer alternative to shooting people to death with firearms.

If someone can get this out to the general public...

Of course we should advocate the banning of tasers---it's gonna be used against us. I think in the past 4 years or so, taser guns have killed tens of people here in Canada.

But of course what Vanguard1917 said is also true.

i think the fact that they act as a sort of 'band aid' against anti-state sentiment is another reason to oppose them.

Did anyone else see the ad for taser guns flash underneath this?

Irony overload.

This.

It's the same way I feel about guns - I oppose gun control because no one will control the government's guns.

in the immortal words of that florida u student "don't tase me, bro!" (http://youtube.com/watch?v=y3FFnpS-eYA)

off the topic yes, but my friends and i got a kick out of it. poor kid didn't really do anything though, that a bit irritating. damn john kerry.

anyway, i absolutely think tasers should be banned, as i think all weapons should be. especially for the government, though

There was a man killed recently as a result of a taser attack. He was in an airport and couldnt speak english so he was becoming frustrated. He wasnt a threat to anyone, but five policeman were called in and immediately tased him. Then they continued to shock him as he lay on the ground. Every time an incident like this happens, its completely obvious that the disgusting cops are loving the power they're wielding. I'd like to grab those tasers and ram it down their fucking necks.

As I understand it the taser was only to be used in situations that would've required the use of lethal force (ie. use of guns). It was not meant to be used as a shortcut to enforce compliance.
The latest video I saw showed a woman being tasered after she was handcuffed.

yea of course there is deffinitely abuse of this tool and yes i call it a tool.
it cn be used responsibly or responsibly
it is useful when deadly force can be avoided but certain cops use this as an excuse to use too much. what im orried about IS that we stil dont understand how certain people die from it. it is not safe, in my opinion to be used on the population because some people may be more vulnerable to death when shocked with a taser.

The main motivation for joining the Old Bill is the automatically coerced "respect" engendered. Forget all that "to protect and serve" shite, it's all bullshit! So any time the Old Bill perceive somebody not having the "respect" for them which they demand as a right, they shuck a taser.

Confrontation with members of the public used to be divided into stages: 1. Negotiation with the person; 2. The use of minimal required force; 3. Drastic application of force.

Now the fuckers just skip the first step. The danger here is that people are becoming so used to tasers being used that they regard it as the only alternative to the use of deadly force. It's not!

I agree. Just like with firearms, I don't support banning them. The cops will always have their weapons, no matter what. Anti-weapon laws just keep weapons out of the hands of the working class.

Plus, who knows? A taser could be a useful "non-lethal" defensive weapon if you are attacked by the fash (I have seen inexpensive "brass knuckles" that also have electrodes to administer a shock.).
