A crew from DC called Resisitance and Solidarity has put out an official call for all progressive people to oppose this suit-and-tie nazi gathering at one of the area's four-star hotels. Jared Taylor, the man responsible for this event, has already been chased out of Canada by antifa, and because everyone is beginning to recognize them when they show up at anti-immigration rallies, more opposition to these rallies has been seen. Consider this the coup de grace. Every last paleo, every well-known bonehead from Stormfront, every last scumbag that has tried to inject fascism into our society will be here. That is why every last antifa will be called upon to make the trek this February to let them know they will not be allowed to function in any size, shape or capacity. A meeting is planned for Dec. 1 to organize efforts to counter this crowd of scumbags. We look forward to seeing you all there!

In 2008, neo-nazis and racist bigots will be planning more racist terror at the American Renaissance Conference. On Feb 22-24, prominent white supremacists from the US and across the world will gather at the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel to vent their hatred and spew their racist venom towards communities of color.

The conference organizers call for a white supremacist society and political order. American Renaissance (AmRen) editor Jared Taylor (2705 Green Holly Springs, Oakton, VA 22124 (703) 716-0930) even states: "If whites permit themselves to be displaced, it is not just the high culture of the West that could disappear but such things as representative government, rule of law and freedom of speech, which whites usually get right and everyone else usually gets wrong."

American Renaissance is a monthly magazine promoting an agenda of white supremacy through eugenics, faux science, and what they call “race realism.” In attempts to appeal to the middle and educated classes of white America, AmRen seeks to establish scientific “truths”, such as eugenics by creating non-existent links between race and IQ, and race and the predisposition to “negative social behaviors”. AmRen advances the racist beliefs of “ Racial differences in IQ, the costs of “diversity,” the challenges of non-white immigration.” One quick glance at their website reveals articles with titles like: “A Defense of White Racial Consciousness”; “The Biological Realities of Race”; “Multiculturalism and the War Against White America”; and “The Color of Crime.”

However, it is not just the racist cosmopolitan that AmRen appeals to. Editor Jared Taylor and his cohorts have been known to schmooze with current, and former, members of the Klan (David Duke); Don Black, the operator of a “prominent” white supremacist website ***************; Michael Regan, NY state prosecutor fired after attending the 2006 AmRen conference; and members of the neo-fascist British National Party. We can expect all of them and more to attend their gathering in February.

Resistance and Solidarity, a DC-based collective opposing racism, fascism and the cruelties perpetrated by the capitalist system, is calling on Mid-Atlantic anti-fascists to join us, Saturday February 23 at 9am for a day full of actions (in many forms) to protest the racist hate spouted by the AmRen National Conference. In the spirit of the anti-fascists that came before us, let's shut these racists down by any means necessary.

But before we shut them down, we need to organize!

Join us at an initial planning meeting at the Petworth Library in Washington, DC (Kansas Avenue NW and Georgia Avenue NW) on Saturday, December 1 at 2pm to gather groups from across the mid-Atlantic to counter the racist bigots coming to the DC Metro area. Agenda items include, but are not limited to: logistics, lead-up actions, protest details, media and legal work. Resistance and Solidarity respects diversity of tactics and recognizes the need for all types of actions, will not engage in philosophical or ideological discussions at the planning meeting. All who share this view, and a commitment to anti-racism are welcome, and encouraged, to attend.

No one organized anything yet, so there isn't an email list. Only the initial meeting has been set for the Saturday after next. After that, things will more than likely go on the fast track. our collective (or, most of it) will be at that meeting this weekend. The hotel itself is a little ways outside of DC (anywhere from 45 mins to an hour and a half, depending on traffic), and not currently accessible via metro. But it should be pretty easily accessible via bus. It's right in my backyard (bout 20 mins from my house), so I'm going to see what I can figure out regarding housing closer to the hotel.

I'll update as I can.

i may try to make the protest as well...these people need to be made to feel as 'unwelcome' as possible...i dont know my way around dc and im on a tight budget...can anyone suggest a cheap hotel

Check out the Washington International Student Center. (http://www.dchostel.com/location.html) I stayed there once for two nights and it's definitely a good place to stay. It's also a good spot to meet people. On my first night, I roomed with four travelling Britons that were there for a few months and on the second night, I roomed with a Russian man in his twenties that I discussed Nazism in Russia and the Nazi skinhead scene with extensively. The only problem is that I'm not sure how close this place is to the location of the counterdemonstration.

We're looking into mass housing. Our normal spot is not going to be usable after an issue with the pigs last time.

If you want to stay somewhere on your own, anywhere Metro accessible should be fine. There's a Fairfax Connector bus that'll run from one of the Falls Church metro stops (towards the end of the Orange line) and drop you off directly in front of the hotel.

I probably shouldn't go into more detail yet. Stormfront and AmRen have already filtered through a lot of the internet chatter, know we're coming, are prepared for a fight, and had planned to sabotage the meeting this weekend, and I'm not keen on just handing them info. I'd rather make them work for it.

Anyway, something to point out. At the meeting, one person gave the common refrain heard whenever someone says they are going to oppose a Nazi gathering that the Nazis are doing this for attention, and that the best thing to do is ignore them. That is always a BS line to begin with, but it needs to be stressed that in the case of those coming out to AmRen, these are NOT the Nazis to be ignored, and the LAST thing they want is attention. These are the ones with the money and political influence. They are the ones responsible for the anti-immigration efforts, and the ones the neo-cons go to when they want to disparage the Jena Six. They also were responsible for Giuliani becoming mayor of NYC. I don't mean particularly as an organization, I mean certain individuals that will be at this event. ANd David Horowitz LOVES these assholes. He is always using their writers and material. It is important to oppose this crew and expose them when they come out. If the conference isn't shut down, we have to make every effort we can to get out there.

To set it straight for anyone who, sensibly, looked into their claim that whites are, on average, mentally superior to blacks, look up the Milwaukee project.

In which case all of their ignorant claims that we are the ones openly believing in unrealistic, biased ideals, and that we would refuse to debate with them (check the comments on Death of a Nation's link), are wholly hypocritical.

Ever heard of the Milwaukee Project? 40 newborns were taken out of one of the poorest districts in Milwaukee that accounted for 3% of the population yet 33% of the mental retardation (all the studied children were black). Two groups were made, an experimental and a control. An independent testing service tested both groups an equal amount of times throughout the project. Obviously, the control group was left alone, and the experimental group was given personal enrichment, etc., basically what an average rich "white" person is given as a child. By age six there was no question that the experimental group, with an average IQ of 120.7, was vastly superior to the control group, with an average IQ of 87.2. The result of this experiment tends to refute your claim that IQ is based on genetics, thus disproving to an extent the theory that blacks are mentally inferior to whites.

Bad news:
Unless there has been a misdiagnosis (which I hope there has), I'll be in a leg cast and on crutches for this, so violent or even semi-violent confrontations are nearly entirely out of the question for me. I dislocated two joints and tore a ligament in my foot during a wrestling match and my cast isn't scheduled to come off until March 3, and even after then I will have to do a lot of physical therapy to rebuild my leg muscles in my right leg, so I definitely won't be in fighting shape for this one. I'll still try to get down to D.C. to help in "behind the scenes" type stuff if I can. Let me know if there's anything that I can do.

Huge. Not only will you see a good number of them there, but they will be the ones with the money and the influence, so people come out to network and be seen. This is one of the few above ground events in the US where fascists have felt confortable coming out. It has a lot to do with the fact that they almost never get opposed, and when they are only the local activists come out. That has to be different this year.

Getting There:
To get to Chandon Park using public transportation, take the Orange Line metro to the West Falls Church station. Then, take the Fairfax Connector Bus #950 towards Reston Town Center. Get off at Elden St and Herndon Parkway and walk left for about a quarter of a mile. The park will be on your right. The bus leaves West Falls Church Metro every half hour starting at 8am (8am, 8:31am, 9:03am, 9:33am, 10:01am, 10:25am, 11:01am…) and takes approximately 30 minutes.
For those getting there by car, from 495 take rt 7 west to fairfax county parkway, exit right on to elden, left on to herndon parkway (you could also take 267 west from 495 if you don't mind the tolls)
