Have any of you guys from Turkey gone through your compulsory military service yet?

What is the usual age?

Being a communist and opposed to the bourgeois state, how does it make you feel and how did/would you behave while in the army?

Do you get a rougher time in the army being a communist?

Is there any ways or "tricks" for you guys to get off and avoid it?

What happens if you refuse? - does that happen often?

Thank you.

and here is a video related to the subject....

I haven't but I'll try to answer your questions nevertheless.

What is the usual age?

18 to 20 if the person is not going to collage. Otherwise after collage, usually 22.

As far as I've heard, generally they don't give guns to you (thus you sleep more) and when you are done they say that they know about you and your organization. I have heard of pretty nasty stuff though, if one has been marked as dangerous, they put him in the same group with murderers and so forth. Also it is possible for them to beat one up or even do more nasty stuff even. After all, if a soldier dies he counts as a training causality and the army does the investigation...

Being injured for some reason or being homosexual (or claiming to be so) does the trick. The second one is not the best way though as it makes finding a job quite hard as far as I know.

It happens rarely, they torture and imprison the ones who refuse.
