If you have not heard Manu Chao, I highly suggest listening to him. His lyrics are pretty left and he loves marijuana, what else is there to love about him?
He sings in French, Spanish, Arabic, Galician, Catalan, English, Portuguese, and Italian...Manu Chao sings in French, Spanish, Arabic, Galician, Portuguese, English, and Wolof, often mixing them in the same song. His music has many influences: rock, French chanson, Iberoamerican salsa, reggae, ska, and Algerian raï. These influences were obtained from immigrants in France, his Iberian relations, and foremost his travels in Mesoamerica as a wandering nomad following the disbanding of Mano Negra.
Many of Chao's lyrics are about love, living in ghettos and immigration, and often carry a left-wing message. This reflects Chao's own political leanings—he is very close to the Zapatista movement, whose public spokesman, Subcomandante Marcos, is sampled heavily on Radio Bemba Sound System. His band Mano Negra is possibly a reference to an anarchist group. Chao is openly critical of the Bush administration in the US. He has many followers among the European left and the anti-globalization movement.

How comes it repeats the first sentence and changes one or two of the languages?

Manu Chao is one of the greatest musicians performing today.
Here's a good article on him, from a communist viewpoint: Many Chao: International Reach (http://massesmediamagazine.com/news.php?extend.8)

He was recently in Denmark and the day after playing he went and played at a youthhousedemonstration. For the youthhouse check Ungdomshuset (http://ungeren.dk/)
Here's a video from the event Manu Chao playing in support of the Youthhouse (http://ekstrabladet.tv/flash/article349612.ece)

I listened to the proxima estacìon album A LOT. A bit too much cause I suddenly couldn't listen to it any more and haven't been able to since;) Tried the new one but didn't like it that much. However, I have found a great "replacement".
The Cat Empire is a six-piece band, based in Melbourne, Australia. Their sound is often described as a fusion of jazz, ska, funk and rock with heavy Latin influences
A couple of songs really have that manu chao feeling but they are much more varied in their sound and is not (at all) that political. Wouldn't think they would turn down a joint either..

that song isn't very good,..your right about that.
thogh i don't think his music is "booring." it is good to listen to if you want to brush up of various languages. althoug it isn't the most engaging music, though some songs are, it is good to relax to.

Yes Manu Chao is awesome, i really love how he is able to mix in a spefic music sample/riff throughout every album.
i prefer Fermin Muguruza, who has a major influence op Mano Negra/Chao.

So much of contemporary music is degenerative, I avoid anything written after 1979 like the plague.
Manu chao is an important exception.
I once heard this guys' stuff classified as "ethnopunk." Cute name.
Why isn't there much else of this rock-world music fusion? there's clearly an appetite for it: another lefty band, system of a down, made it big mixing armenian folk melodies with heavy stuff.

i recently saw a thrash, reggea, punk band
they were VERY good
you don't see the mixing of music styles that often
and when you do
it's very good music
or very good noise
:]
