This is just bizarre.

The regional carpenters' union has hired Hodge for $8 an hour, essentially outsourcing protest work that union members traditionally do themselves. And many of the demonstrators are homeless people, according to people familiar with the union and its practices. (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=16233482)

And my respect for business unions gets one step lower. The funny thing is, they'd be a lot more cohesive as a group if they did things such as this together.

Oh well...

My anarchist friend did this for a carpenter's union this summer. In Portland. Apparently the local IWWs had gone to bat for the carpenters when they were involved in an actual struggle. So the carpenters were friendly to poor anarchists like my buddy.

One hundred percent.
