At the last meeting we set the next meeting for next Monday: Monday the 21st of January at 6.30pm at Black Rose Anarchist Books 22 Enmore Rd Newtown.

------------------------
Saturday 15 December

@ 9, Pro-Choice / Anti-HOGPI / Clinic Support action. Meet Cnr Johnston & Albion st Annandale.

Every month a group called "Helpers of God's Precious Infants" (HOGPI)
holds a ceremony at St Brendan's Church in Annandale before
'processing' to the abortion clinic on Salisbury Rd, where they sing,
pray and harass passers by and people entering the clinic with their
anti-choice beliefs, gory photographs and plastic foetuses. HOGPI is
an international movement linked to the Catholic Church.

For the past two months a group of counter-protesters have been
successful in impeding both their procession and the ad hoc mass they
perform on the side of the road, across from the clinic. Our actions
have been a great success, with much support from passers-by,
neighbours & clinic staff.

We want to demonstrate again at HOGPI's next appearance!

The next planning meeting is on Wednesday December 5,
6.30pm @ Black Rose Anarchist Library, 22 Enmore Rd, Newtown (just
near Newtown station.)

The next action is Saturday 15 December. Meet at cnr Johnston & Albion
st Annandale @ 9am.

Man, how I wish I could help. If I could travel, I'd be right with you guys. Just hearing about them harassing people as they head into the clinic makes my blood boil.

Thank you for your support :)

The worst are the creepy guys who stand either side of the clinic entrance with rosaries grrrr.

Though, I guess it might be a good thing I wasn't, I might've gotten worked up and hurt someone...

Not that they wouldn't deserve it. :P

Believe me - people were worked up!

The pro-lifers brought young meat-heads with them this time. They were used to push the counter-protesters forward and out of the way (we were trying to slow/stop their procession from the church to the clinic)... amidst the fracas a friend of mine was punched in the face by a meat-head. Suffice to say there was a lot of anger and frustration after the action finished, things are really starting to heat up with HOGPI and now there's cop detachments at each event.

"Helpers of God's Precious Infants" has got to be the most hilariously named reactionary organisation ever. If I was going to found a religious anti-choice group I'd call it "people to save innocent babies" or something, the combination of the silliness in the word 'precious' and the choice of 'infant' over babies and 'helpers' over 'people' just makes it sound like a parody. Its really like out of monty python or a bad cartoon or something.
