This is a very critical battle. Touching pension plans is a no-no.

Anyone knows how the labour laws work in France? Is it legal to hire scabs over there? If so, then this will be a tough battle. In Canada, scabs are illegal in (I believe) British Columbia and Quebec for provincial entreprises, but legal nationwide for federal entreprises (nuclear energy, transport, communications, etc)

That's actually quite interesting, because it sounds like so many other groups are getting involved as well. It's not "just" the railworkers...it sounds like a huge amount of the population will be striking or protesting.

I'll be keeping my eye on this one, thanks a lot for the post.

I love how major news sources are trying to paint the French Transit Workers as greedy. I believe I heard one station call the workers' pensions "over generous".
