Ok folks, I've been having the hardest time in my life trying to remember the name of a movie I saw a long time ago. Hopefully, one of you will have seen it as well and can remember the name. I've searched everywhere (Google, IMDB, movie rentals). It's not a documentary.

Here's the plot/storyline:

This girl's husband leaves on a business trip to Switzerland. The girl wants to surprise him (I think) so she travels to his hotel in Switzerland only to find out that he didn't ever even go there. So she does some digging around and finds that he's actually in a small Central/South American country.

I'm almost certain that the name of this country is the title of the movie. I think the country starts with an E and I'm not sure if its even a real country.

When she goes to the S.A. country, she books a room at a hotel and meets a guy there who is a journalist interested in interviewing the leader of the revolution taking place in the country. They end up becoming friends and travel into the jungle to meet the revolutionaries. While they're there, she sees her husband shaking the leader's hand.
So it's thought that her husband is helping the revolution here, but he's not.
When the journalist, the wife, and the husband are leaving the jungle they run into a military checkpoint. The husband gets out and says he'll handle it. He tries to pretend to be lost or something like that, but then the guard smiles and greets him like a good friend.
The journalist recognizes this and realizes the husband is helping out the military to crush to revolution. So the journalist and the wife speed away in the car. And go on to fight for the revolution which I believe wins in the end.

The whole movie is being told by the wife and every now and then it goes back to her telling the story and she's behind bars talking to two guards, but at the end of the movie, she stands up and walks away revealing that the guards are actually the ones behind bars.

PLEASE help me find the name to this movie. I really want to watch it again, but I am having absolutely no luck.

Ecuador?

That's pretty much all I have for South American countries starting with E.

It could also be El Salvador if it's Central American. Sounds like a good movie though.
