Cool!
Maybe we can us it somewhere? I think malte was collecting things like that for hyperlinks that people can use on other websites and blogs to link to revleft. There was a thread for submissions at one point but I don't know where it went.

er, use it to replace the existing one?
Maybe a poll in commie club to 'elect' this new one in wouldnt go amiss.

I have to admit that when I first saw this thread I expected some shitty MS Paint graphic. I was pleasantly surprised. Looks professional, not really my style though.

You should have made the (A) the bigger symbol in order to compensate! :P
I was just joking anyway.

You should feel inferior because you're an anarchist, not because the anarchist (A) is smaller than the H&S... :P

I've made a thread about in in the CC. I haven't made a poll just yet because the CC may want to discuss it first.

Yeah, in order to use it on the board, you'd have to make it compatible with the skins. Just make the background transparent rather than gray.

I like this design because its new millinium style. The one we are using right now, is old skool, Castro-ish. We should should step it up.

Kickass!
BTW I don't know what version of Photoshop you use, but in 7.0 it's pretty complicated to make backgrounds transparent. The help files do an adequate job of explaining it, but I think there are about 2/3 ways to make transparency--none of them simple. I usually use Microsoft Office Picture Editor to make transparency since it's quick and easy.

i use the Photoshop CS, and to make a transparent background, i used to make the vector graphic first in the Corel or Freehand, and then export it to .EPS format, then i brought it to Photoshop and save it into .gif or .png file format.

obsolete discourse
16th November 2007, 06:05
My appologies for my lack of mercy, I'm a designer.
I think the overall layout is good but the use of the 3 symbol elements should be modified. nix the 1+1+1, and add a more visually hierarchical 1+2+3 style. Also the stencil typeface is very out--it only appeals to youth subculturists and "militant" types. It works OK for the current logo, but I think it would benefit revleft to change even that. I think a sans serif modern typeface like helvetica, din or grotesk, would accomplish the much more functionalist and modern feel. Alternatively a serif like clarendon would have the particular eco-friendly hipster appeal (think Dwell, or Readymade Magazine) which quite a few people relate to.

I think the old one had been in use since RevLeft was created from CheLives.

Kudos (pronounced /ˈkjuːdɒs//, often /ˈkuːdoʊz/), from the Greek κύδος kydos (literally "that which is heard of") means "fame" and "renown" resulting from an act or achievement. Extending "kudos" to another individual is often done as a praising remark. It entered English as british university slang in the early 1800s. In Standard English, as in Greek, Kudos is a singular and not a plural noun. However, in common use, one frequently encounters dialects and idiolects in which the noun is plural: She received many kudos ['ku:doʊz] for her work.
The term became more widespread in the mid-1980's when the Kudos Granola Bar was introduced and became popular. Usage expanded again as the term entered the vocabulary of the gaming community (you can earn kudos for completing game tasks, like in the Project Gotham Racing series).
