here we are, all the recognised "political parties" fail to give a voice to the disaffected working class, 40% of the population don't vote, a tiny minority vote bnp, not cos they are racist or fascist, in the main, but becos they are desperate for any kind of "alternative".
and what are we doing? we are , in general, engaging in the kind of useless sectarian shit that repels the ordinary politicaly conscious worker.
what mystifies me however, is why we're doing it!
i,ve been reading around various "socisalist" and "anarchist" websites.
what i read is unity of thought, what i don't see is unity in action!

groups like the socialist party, the iww, the workers party and unions like the fbu and the rmt are willing to accept some kind of federalised party in order to further the interests of the working class.

this means, to them, accepting a "minority" position within a wider movement in order to try and secure the future of the movement in general.

i cannot understand, why any "revolutionary left" individual or party, would wish to stand outside such a party/movement.

at this moment in time, what we need, is common interest rather than sectarian highg mindedness.

if a new workers party is formed on a fedrealist basis, the best ideas and proven actuions will win out against any "sectarian" tendancies.

if you add to this, the leading role of trade union activists and the politically conscious and active worker, the "sectarians" should be confined to the "dustbin of history" imho. :D

I am actually in agreement with you here and i feel that there should be a new Socialist international with most countries of the world being represented by a, obviously Socialist, workers party which follows a standard line that leaves secterianism behind.

I think that the entire Socialist movement needs a sort of standardisation when it comes to political parties instead of the haphazard ideologies and the stupid, and thus unappealing, names of the various Socialist parties such as the Communist party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) or the Communist part of Great Britain (Provisional central committiee) (WTF? ).

I think that we should all seriously consider founding a workers party.

I agree completely.

It's very unfortunate that so many people are wrapped in their ideological bubbles and irrelevant historical debates. We accomplish so little with so much potential.

Marx pointed out that as long as the sects are historically justified, they will exist.
