here we are, all the recognised "political parties" fail to give a voice to the disaffected working class, 40% of the population don't vote, a tiny minority vote bnp, not cos they are racist or fascist, in the main, but becos they are desperate for any kind of "alternative".
and what are we doing? we are , in general, engaging in the kind of useless sectarian shit that repels the ordinary politicaly conscious worker.
what mystifies me however, is why we're doing it!
i,ve been reading around various "socisalist" and "anarchist" websites.
what i read is unity of thought, what i don't see is unity in action!
groups like the socialist party, the iww, the workers party and unions like the fbu and the rmt are willing to accept some kind of federalised party in order to further the interests of the working class.
this means, to them, accepting a "minority" position within a wider movement in order to try and secure the future of the movement in general.
i cannot understand, why any "revolutionary left" individual or party, would wish to stand outside such a party/movement.
at this moment in time, what we need, is common interest rather than sectarian highg mindedness.
if a new workers party is formed on a fedrealist basis, the best ideas and proven actuions will win out against any "sectarian" tendancies.
if you add to this, the leading role of trade union activists and the politically conscious and active worker, the "sectarians" should be confined to the "dustbin of history" imho. :D
