Dualism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dualism)
Okay so what is your opinion on Dualism?
Could it be used in a post revolutionary society to make sure that we never go back to the "evil" Capitalist period as oppossed to the "good" Socialist period we would be in by then?
Perhaps the concept of Dualism could be used in left wing propaganda in our various movements nowadays?
Remember that Dualism does not necessarily involve a god or gods.
The only part of Dualism that intrests me is the concept of "good versus evil" and how us leftists could possibly use this concept to our advantage.

It's the bedrock of all dogma, religious or political. I think it's overly simplistic.

Already has been used by leftists, the good revolutionary versus the bad capitalist. Continue using it? YES.

History shows that. In the 1920's/1930's for instance, it involved the 'good' Stalin versus the 'evil' Trotsky :trotski: buhuwhahahahaha....

I think we could, actually, given we don't let it get out of hand. Especially given the critical juncture of history.
How do propose doing so?

It sounds too simple to me. There is no such thing as "good" and "evil", they exist only in religious morality.

Oh I think it does exist in a few contexts, it's just much rarer than most people admit.

Which dualism are you referencing?
Most communists wouldn't want to use mind/body dualism because it is the counter of materialism.

it's so simple. i mean, i guess have a little dualism in me (i am discordianist neopagan, so i beleive in a balance between order and chaos), but use as propaganda is not a good idea. even if it was effective, it would create an irritating mantality of seeing things in black and white.

I suppose you are right but i also think that it is good to have a set of say Socialist "morals" which is where this dualism would come in.
I suppose it could backfire though as people tend to rebel against order and deliberately do the oppossite of the current societies good and morals and that will lead to chaos in our new Socialist society if it happened.

Maybe we could come up with some metaphysical rule based on dualism and give a Latinate name, something like 'dialectics', then we could construct a socialist theory around this...
It'll be brilliant!

Its an "us and them" ideology, and instead of "us and them", I like soldiarity and unity.

I love how this small passage from a book smashes dualism:
"Dualism was never able to reply satisfactorily to the inevitable question: how could these two separate substances, which have nothing in common between them, influence each other? Therefore the most consistent and most profound thinkers were always inclined to monism, i.e., to explaining phenomena with the help of some one main principle (monos in greek means “one”)."
