Salem 2007

Salem is a small society just south of Stockholm, Sweden.

In 2000 a young nazi was killed there by a gang of youths, many being immigrants. In december every year since, thousands of nazis from all over europe have gathered there to march against "anti-swedish violence". The Salem March might be the largest nazimarsch in northern europe and has been an extremly important propaganda-action for the nazi movement.

There have also always been resistance, counter-actions. Often gathering as many (or more) as the nazis. This year won't be any different.

This year, the march will be held Saturday, 8th of december. Start preparing a trip to Sweden! More info will come later.

Some years we have had demonstrations in central Stockholm and trainstopping-activities instead, but this year we plan to be in Salem as usual.

The fash that was killed was Marcus Wrettstrøm, and the murder was a revenge for assaulting a young girl.

Tomorrow it is war in Salem. We antifascists are going to be more people than ever and the nazis less than ever. The antifascist-demonstration will be held between 12.00-15.00 and the Nazi-demonstration will be held 16.00. When our demonstration is over we will spread all over Salem and probably cause so much problems that the nazis wont be allowed to hold their demonstration. That is the best scenario. About 800 cops will also be there, trying to protect the nazis. Wish us luck.

We gathered in Salem Centrum, numbered approx 800, good speaches were held... Then an hour or so late, 150 danish black block activists arrived at the scene! :ph34r:


We marsched our very long route, but when we were a some hundred meters from were we were supposed to finish, approx 500 (?) activists broke out from the demonstration perfectly. Then we all split up over half Salem in small affinitygroups and laid quite low in the woods, mountains and housing areas. Some roads were blocked with stones and logs.

We were supposed to lay low until the nazis marsched (if they would be allowed to marsch in our presence), but unfortunatly some people can't manage be calm for more than one hour. So when one hour had passed many affinity groups had joined into mobs, and some mobs had barricated themselves at schools, resulting in violent clashes with the police trying to storm. The mobs did well, but they should not even had been. Not yet. It was far to early.

So what we managed was to have fun and delay the nazi-marsch with two hours, and we did show strenght and we would have defeated the nazis had we clashed. But we did fail nevertheless, because some lacked dicipline and did not follow the plans. Unfortunatly.

It was not a defeat, we did fine, but we could have done more really. We were so well organized this year...

Looks like a strong block there, any incidents recorded?

We were not in it to riot, but sure there were a few clashes. The best was when the groups acted very dynamic, groups of 5 could become 100 joining with another 100 becoming a mob of 200 smashing police vans only to become 40 groups of 5 again, etc.

There were large clashes at a school when the police tried to charge the barricated but were repelled several times. There was also an incident when a large group of demonstrants had been surounded by police and 30 activists counted down from 5 to 0 and then charged the police lines and clashed straight into the cops enabling some of the surounded to get free.

Not much really. At one school a fireworks-rocket went through a window, which ment some smoke (no fire) inside the school. At another school mainly danish activists set trash cans and barricades a fire (nothing major), the firefighters were sent to the school but the activists declared that they did not want any firemen there (between them and the police)), and said that there were only minor fires and nothing that would spread or needed imidiate atention. But the firemen were ordered in anyway and the activists responded with some stones to make the truck leave the scene.


So, nothing special really. But in the news it seemed like the activists were burning down schools and tried to hurt firemen doing their job to save it...
