I don&#39;t know who the drawing is--possibly a nameless model. If anyone does know, or remembers who drew the picture, let me know.

If you&#39;re speaking of the old woman, she was an immigrant on Ellis island (making it even more fitting). I forget who took the picture, but I like it a lot for some reason. The guy had a book filled with ellis island photos, that&#39;s about all I remember. The photo was free to use for non-commercial use.

I think he was refering to the fact that "girly" is a term refering to cuddly, cute, pink, harmless kind of pictures, enhancing the artificial division of genders. I like that picture, i think its cute. Does that make me more of a girl and less of a boy now? Or wait it might make me gay even :rolleyes:. Yes i would consider the division in "girly" and "manly" structually sexist.

Also considering her profile, how is koc a "girl"? 25 seems more like a women to me. So she liking what society tells her she "should" like (cuddle, cute things) is a girl (not an adult) while a guy fullfilling his stereotype of being strong, liking football and shooting things would be considered manly. (an adult) Clearly those arent divisions on equal terms.

So while i dont like checking all words we use for sexism, we should avoid considering personal likes "girly" or "manly" as much as we avoid atributing personal likes to "german", "french" or "american".
