If you open a packet of crisps upside down, do you get bad luck?

The hell, of course not. The point of this thread is?

You've failed to grasp the dialectic, comrade. The internal contradictions within the bag will inevitably cause the bag to open well enough on it's own.

No if we're going to discuss religion in depth then why can't we discuss bad luck with crisp packets. They're both as scientific as eacother.

I don't really think it matters, although if you have salt and vinegar ones, a lot of the salt will probably have gone to the bottom, so you might get saltier crisps.

I never open a crisp packet the right way up and while I wouldn't call myself lucky, I wouldn't say I'm dogged by misfortune.

Maybe your life would be better if you opened them the right way up.

Who can say what is the right or wrong way to open a packet of crisps? Who are we to impose our moral values on others?

That's right, if I say that opening a packet of crisps upside down causes me ill fate, then who are you to say otherwise? my opinions are mine, and they're right to me.

I have faith and don't need proof. Though I do feel sorry for you with all your bad luck, how many times have you tripped over or hurt yourself this year? and how many crisp packets have you mis-opened.... Coincidence?

Do I get bad luck if I open them from the bottom as an unintended side effect of making them explode?

What we can be certain of is that we ought to have deep respect for those strong enough to have faith in the correct procedure of opening crisps. In fact, we should not tolerate any criticism of this belief; it only serves to alienate superstitious comrades, and anyway if you criticise it you're just as bad as the fundamentalists, you scientific-dogmatist.

No...me. Because I'm the Center of the Universe. (relatively speaking)
And that means that my every whim is representative of the only true middle-path between two extremes. So everyone that disagrees with me is a minority extremist on the periphery that does not jet fully comprehend my profound wisdom and humbleness. Marvel before my mild temper and indecisiveness clad as truth! Bow before my smack middle between arbitrary ideas! I am truth.

No. Bad luck is when the packet of crisps is difficult to open, and in your struggles you end ripping the stupid bag apart and covering yourself in crisps.

The fact remains that opening a packet of crisps the wrong way may bring about armageddon.

Quoted for truth. There are few things more annoying than having your snacks fly all over the place, unless you're in space. Then it's awesome.
