Not sure if this has already been discussed, but hey ho.
I'm going to try and start a radical newsletter at my college - I was thinking I'd just stick it by the other newspapers in the library or something, and see what happened.
Now, don't shout me down, but at least for the moment I want it to be quite informal and not overly-serious. I more want to shock people and get a reputation going first. I was thinking anti-authoritarianism would be an easy way into this, spiced with some class war, and plenty of vulgar or irreverent humour.
Does anyone have experience of independently setting up a newsletter, or any general help they can give me? T'would be much appreciated.

I think it should be very cynical, witty, arrogant, and convincing. Like bill hicks.
Class War goes a bit too far in my opinion, it becomes slapstick.
Also I think the formal look is pretty sexy, Im particularly fond of the CNTs paper,

What is on that emblem?
It looks to me like a man is trying to force someone (or something) to perform fellatio on him.

I suppose I could advertise RevLeft. Remember these are college students though, nearly any advertisment is going to be sneered at, and these kids are hardly political - I heard a few sagely discussing how anarchist communism communism was a right wing ideology that promoted the free market. :o Perhaps it would be better to wait until it's been read a bit, and had an impact.
I like the idea of a Bill Hicks style, but I'm not quite sure about the formal layout, I shall experiment with it.
Any ideas on the practical side of things? I'm not going to ask permission to distribute this, and when I last attempted to broadcast my political views, in a different place, I got into all kinds of shit. Called an Islamophobe and a racist for criticizing Hezbollah and the burkha! Grr them. Do you think I'm putting my education at any real risk? Or perhaps how I should produce it. Is it acceptable to just knock something together on word?
There's a meeting at the anarchist bookfair next week about newsletters, so I'll definitely check it out.
