Do you remember a 20/21 year old, college going Luxembourgist from 2005/6? Yeah that was me.

Now I'm a 22 year old, just-got-hired-to-a-factory Luxembourgist! Yay, aging and college drop-outerty! Ironically, I'm also excited about the prospect of having Health Insurance and 401(k). Ah, the perils of living in neo-liberalist American society. You have to play the game or starve in the gutter.

How have you people been? Am I still apart of the Commie Club or did I get kicked out? Does anyone remember me at all? At least the Opposing Ideology message board is still plagued with trolls--riiiigght?

Have you always used that username?

No, you were removed from the CC for inactivity, so if you're planning on being more active, maybe wait about a month and someone'll start a poll for you?

I have not seen you for quite some time. I think I myself was back in college the last time I saw you (around late 2005). I myself am also a college dropout, as I hated my major, and even if I completed it, I would only end up making around US $35K per year (when I entered college in the fall of 2004, they were telling me that I would make around $50 to $60K per year! About a year later.....perhaps even less time, I do not remember, that was slashed to $35K, with lots of these positions being laid off as well.), given that I could find a job in the field of computer network administration. College for me was largely a waste of thousands of dollars and a year and a half of my life, but it did have some helpful aspects, as I used my spare time to get onto the Internet (I did not have internet at home at the time.) and learned with sites like marxists.org, marxist.com, and I ended up finding this site as well. I guess I got lucky with the last semester being almost free due to scholarships. Still, a lot of money down the toilet. Spare time was not common either with going to college full time and working 20+ hours per week.

I have gotten a bit lucky, though, as I am better off without a college degree than I would be with one in my ex field of study; I am a unionized janitor (I am with the SEIU.), and if I can keep attaining higher classes of boiler licenses, I could potentially end up making US $40-$50K per year in a few years or so from now. I will get a $6K per year raise just from getting a low level boiler license and a pool license (I should have both within a few months.). With that raise alone, I will be making more than even the head custodians/janitors made at my old, non-unionized workplace. Even the starting pay at my new job is a little higher than what I was making after three years of work with my previous employer.

I believe that CC members that are inactive for a year are kicked out automatically, so you will have to wait for someone to start a new poll for you in some time, given that you want to get back in.

Debora Aro: I remember you... Somewhat.

Axel: Strangely enough, the job I have now is currently non-union--but good. Yeah, I'm perplexed too. I make 8.7-something/hour starting out (a lot for this area, considering that you also get Life, Health, Dental, Visual and 401k). I guess they want to keep the unions at bay, so buy us off? I dunno. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark, but I don't know what I'm smelling. At any rate though, I'll probably play to be apart of the IWW or something--once I get settled.
