Isn't there some site that explains marxist economics in an easy way using modern exampels? Not just some 19th century ones. I'd be happy if someone more knowledgeble could point out good sources to learn from.

I assume you mean website? There's always wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marxian_economics).

Then try this:
http://william-king.www.drexel.edu/top/Pri...arx/ApxToC.html (http://william-king.www.drexel.edu/top/Prin/txt/marx/ApxToC.html)

this:
http://www.chass.utoronto.ca/~munro5/MARXECON.htm

and this:

http://www.worldsocialism.org/articles/int..._economics1.php (http://www.worldsocialism.org/articles/introduction_to_marxian_economics1.php)

Also for a survey of recent marxian economics:

and links therein.

I'd very highly recommend Harry Cleaver's Reading 'Capital' Politically (http://libcom.org/library/reading-capital-politically-cleaver). It's a very concise application of the first three chapters of Capital vol. 1 specifically from the viewpoint of how the knowledge can be used to directly struggle in today's neoliberal world. Cleaver's taught several classes on Marxist economics and autonomist Marxism at the University of Texas in Austin for years. And as a bonus, the Introduction has the best history of the Marxist movement I've ever read. Excellent way to get into Marxist economics as they pertain to class analysis today.

Especially that latter one and its comments on monopoly capital :)

I learned in microeconomics that today's economies are ones of "monopolistic competition," but I didn't know that Baran and Sweezy tied that into the overall concept of monopoly capital ("and smaller-scale business, often equally monopolistic but only on a local basis" - from that latter website).

I wonder if they made any comments regarding the "hourglass" corporate environment of today (if they did indeed predict a "shrinking middle" in terms of businesses).
