The coop is essentialy a good thing because it is owned by the people, But Owen though he had the right ideas when it came to worker treatment was VERY paternalistic in taking care of everything.

Yeah co-ops!
As long, that is, as they're revolutionary and seek to build an alternative economy. There's plenty of "co-ops" that are just as bourgie as other businesses but use the name as a way to seem like they are more progressive.
But the co-op movement itself, if tied with other revolutionary currents, presents a fantastic challenge to capitalism. They're living out the old Wobbly motto, "Building the new in the shell of the old."
