View Full Version : National information strike

I want to propose that we get off our office chairs and try something different: a national campaign to promote the Leftist idealogy. Local activism is always beneficial, but I think what the socialist, communist, and anarchist movements lack, especially in the USoA, is a geniune national movement.

Since the users at revleft are scattered across the country, we could deliver the same message to homes. I was thinking we put aside a date, one of relative importants to Americans, where we walk around our respected neighborhood and put a letter in as many mail-boxes as we can [or on doors, or on car windows].

The content of the message could be decided democratically on this forum. Comrades could submit their text and we can vote on what we think is the best. Then we get a final copy and print it off and wait for the day.

Ideas? Suggestions? Attacks?

"Strike b) Strike action (or simply strike) describes collective action undertaken by groups of workers in the form of a refusal to perform work"

So it's not exactly a strike.

Although it's great to see such enthusiasm and a desire to move things forward in some way, groups all over the world have a continual process of distributing infomation. Sometimes door to door. Sometimes they have film showings in urban centers, sometimes they sell papers, magazines, or hand our leaflets etc. It's nothing new. And although it is of some use, I don't think there's much call for any more of it.

I reccomend you link up with an existant organisation/union, and form a local branch. Put your interests in long term organisation and not a one-off stunt.

If you want any help getting in touch with an organisation feel free to PM me and I will do what I can to help. But please consult the political organsiations thread pinned in this forum first.

zines and other lit placed strategically in the following places work well:

1. toilets (people have nothing better to do)
2. train/bus stations and airports, or on busses and trains
3. college campuses (like where campus newspapers are)
4. cafes and bars. Not restaurants b/c people aren't alone so won't read.
5. saunas at health clubs.

Many leninists (and I think crimethink?) already do stuff like this. Generally I'd check for where there are piles of alternative weeklies and just dump your stash of lit next to it.

And the lit better be damn good. Short too. I should be able to read it front to end during a #2.
