With the war in Iraq going badly for the imperialists, it is seeming more likely that there will be a full or partial withdrawal of American troops if things continue to get worse. So what do you think will happen if America pulls out of Iraq? I haven't seen any major discussion of this on here, but I may have just missed it. I think it's an important issue for us to consider, though I am certainly not advocating continuation of the war.

things are not getting any better while were there, leaving would either make little or no change or possible improverment. the centeral goverment even with massive amouts of US aid is still ineffective and civil strife reins.. Leaving could cause the civil war to become full blow.. which is the current situation execpt without the US to keep up the "democratic" goverment, it would be ousted. and/or the civil violence would be reduced, there would be less reason for people to fight.

it would be easier for workers to take control of the oil industry, for one thing, and the foreign corporations raping Iraq would find their property expropriated - of course workers would then have to fight for control of these. Yes, there would be a long and hard fight against sectarians and islamists. Unity with Iraqi nationalists fighting for state control of resources and secularism should be encouraged. The important thing is for Iraqi leftists to come to the forefront of the resistance now, so they will have the legitimacy to lead the country when the troops go.
