He looks a bit worn out and his speaking seems a bit forced (As if to convey the impression that he is okay perhaps?) other than that he seems like a typical old person recovering from an illness that took alot out of him.

There was a smile on my face when I saw the interview (I saw it live). He seems to be getting older. But knowing Fidel, even death won't beat him, lol.

For those of us who don't understand Spanish (http://www.cubanews.ain.cu/2007/0921fidelmesaredonda.htm)
He also welcomed Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos on Saturday.

Heheh, the old boy's tough, as always. :D
The gusanos in Miami must be really frustrated! Hahahah Fuck them, Arriba Fidel!
I'm sure gonna miss him when he goes, though. :(

Is anyone else having flashbacks to John Paul II?
If this "death watch" mentality doesn't prove there's a cult of personality around this man, nothing will...

Except, you forgot to mention that the cult starts and stops in the U.S.
The appreciation the workers and farmers of Cuba have for Fidel, Raul, Vilma, Che, etc. has nothing to do with a cult of personality.

We need to send him an official Revleft "Get well soon" card. I hope he lives another half a century just to spite W. for the U.N. speech.

1. this was an interview not a Fidel siting thread
2. the people who have been waiting for Fidel to die have been those idiots in Miami since 1959

Most supporters of the Revolution I've met argue it won't matter that much, though they'd be sad to see a comrade go.

That's odd, I thought the exact same thing when I read the title of the thread. Not that I blame Fidel as such - rather those building up this God-like image of him (I am equally not accusing anyone on this website).

But it's moreso the American media who is building him up as a larger than life character. As noted before, most Cubans(not exiles) that i know of will be sad to see him go, but that's not going to turn back the Revolution.

Yes, just two though.
1) There should be a sticky so we don't get all these threads about his demise/death/reincarnation/ozmosis.
2) His death is meaningless in the larger scheme of things.
We don't need people spamming the politics board with updates on an old dictator's battles with colonic fucking cancer.
I'm sure gonna miss him when he goes, though.
Pff, get a grip.

I'm afraid my interest in the man doesn't extend as far as giving a fuck what he thinks about anything.

If you don't like the thread, don't post in it then. If I see a thread which holds no interest to me, I do not post saying, 'lol don't spam the forum with bullshit'.

No sorry, you're confused about what spam is.
Spam isn't "threads we don't like", Spam is when the same thing, quite needlessly, gets posted OVER AND OVER again.
We need ONE thread where comrades who are interested can talk about Fidel's cancer; his convalescence or otherwise and extend the old man good wishes.
What we don't need is a new thread in Politics every time he gives an interview to some feckless gimp from Cuban TV news.
Yes?

No.
'Every time' isn't a lot, you know. He barely is interviewed nowadays. You're complaining about this as if he does interviews 24/7 every day of every month of every year.
He doesn't, and the thing is, it's nice, in my opinion, to see a thread announcing an interview or some news on Fidel Castro.
And how many threads are there about Fidel Castro right now? Please, enlighten me.
If you don't like it, ignore this thread completely.
Perhaps in the future there will be a sticky related to Fidel Castro and his health. Until then, this thread, or any future threads on him, will be posted.

Hopefully he'll reappear many more times in the future so I can post about it here. For all those who don't want to see anymore post about Fidel's battle with colon cancer: tough beans.

The interview had nothing to do with Fidels death watch. He was speaking on issues that effect those who dont have a voice, like the prisoners being tortured at Guatamo Bay. The U$ has almost forgotten these people are still there. Its no longer upfront news that should be.
Viva La Castro! Dont let us/them forget the astocities of imperilism!

If you don't give a fuck what he thinks about anything please enlighten me why you are bothering to even post in a thread were he is being interviewed.
