Right. Gonna be starting my coursework. It's like a research thing of your choice.
My plan is to do one on how comedy is used as a means of political dissent. On the standup front, obviously Bill Hicks is there, and I youtubed Carlin who seems a shame to omit. I was wondering if y'all could shout out some other names for me.
Also, in regard to other means, could I include things like the Simpsons and American Dad?
Cheers, all,

Mark Steel. He is up-front political, unlike Hicks (who was political now and then).

Cheers.
Although, maybe there're more things to joke about than politics. Hell, the Simpsons jokes about politics. Viz. the George Bush episode.
Is it really irritating I keep saying "Viz."

RR there are loads of his videos on-line if you go to U-tube etc.
His two 'funny' books are "It's Not A Runner Bean" and "Reasons to be Cheerful", both of which are excellent.
His "History of the French Revolution" is great too.
I have some of his videos stored at my U-Tube site (skip past the Galloway ones!):

His 'Vive la Revolution' on page two is brilliant.

look up Harry Enfield on Youtube! He may not be Left wing but he is Politically incorrect and is funny as fuck!

Yes I'll do Enfield because of his enlightened depiction of working class life.
[/sarcasm]
And his last show with Paul Whitehouse was steamy shit.
So the definites are Hicks and Carlin. I'll find some Steel and look for a few British and poss Irish comics.
Also put in some sitcom and satire.

.... and poss Irish comics.
Dylan Moran from the sitcom 'Black books' always has me in stiches.
He may not be particularly political but his surrealist outlook is the best of his genre.

Ulster, not denying Dylan's talent, that doesn't really help much.

I changed my mind. I decided to compare the ways the Miners' strike was reported in the Socialist Worker and the Heily Mail.
