OK. I'm just now starting to read about Marxism. It is a very fascinating system. How exactly does the intellects, who are taught at universities, fit into Marxism? Marxism seems to me that the proletariats are the 'ruling people' in Marxism. Hows does the intellects fit into this way of life? What do the well educated do in a communist system? Are they treated fairly by the Establishment? Or are they outcasts? When the People's Republic of China was formed, the government sought to get rid of these people by killing them. Please explain the basics of how the working class and the people who are educated (Middle Class?), work with each other. Thank you for your time and patience. These are probably stupid questions, but I need to know.

No. According to Marxism the proletariat are the Revolutionary Class not the "ruling people" in the system. By being revolutionary means it is the only class can transform the current class society to a class one.

What do the well educated do in a communist system?

Well in a communist system every one will be well educated. It would cease to become privilige as it is in today's capitalist system.

Are they treated fairly by the Establishment?

What do you mean by establishment ?

Or are they outcasts?

What makes you think that ?

When the People's Republic of China was formed, the government sought to get rid of these people by killing them.

Baseless accustaion. Can you provide sources or facts ?

Please explain the basics of how the working class and the people who are educated (Middle Class?), work with each other.

What do you need to explain ? My answer to to one of your other questions would help you understand.

Thank you for your time and patience.

No mentions

These are probably stupid questions, but I need to know.

You are always welcomed for that.

According to the flag of the DDR, intellectuals are a part of the revolution. wiki: flag of the DDR. (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afbeelding:Flag_of_East_Germany.svg) Not that the DDR is a fine example of socialism.

The intellectuals are not the outcasts, and workers are not the opposite of intellectuals. All people are "equal" under socialism.

"Under socialism all will govern in turn and will soon become accustomed to no one governing." (Lenin).

god! sorry for asking questions! you don't have to get all defensive. Sorry for not knowing everything about the subject! I am just a "beginner". But I did not mean to say that Karl Marx wasn't a intellect, he was a very good intellect. FYI, I'm not trying to insult anybody!! After I posted this question, I keep on reading and I understand now. Establishment = Government, the way of the people, the normal thing to do, and the mainstream thing to do. Don't shoot me for asking questions!

PS - I was talking about the Cultural Revolution in China around 1966. About bringing down the liberal Bourgeoisie. I got my fact confused.

Hows does the intellects fit into this way of life?
Everyone would be an intellectual in the broad sense of the word.

What do the well educated do in a communist system?
Put their education to good use.

Are they treated fairly by the Establishment? Or are they outcasts? When the People's Republic of China was formed, the government sought to get rid of these people by killing them.
That's because intellectuals are by nature very critical of the establishments in which they live in. Of course, this certainly doesn't bode well if the government dislikes criticism coming from such elements.
