Because politics is to do with everything.

Well... yes... still, it has more to do with Music I think so I am moving it to the Music Forum. Please let me know if you have any objections.

Agreed, the pop culture of most countries will be exactly the same, people are just mourning his death because he was famous.

Only information I could find is that he was a big supporter of the United Nations and was heavily involved in humanitarian and charity work. He came from a somewhat impoverished background but became a multi-millionaire. I doubt very much if he was a man of the left. And if he was, he kept it to himself.

Its sad for his family and friends, but I wouldnt say its sad for the world. His fans still have his music -just because he has died doesnt mean the world has "lost" his music or something.

Yeah, Edgar's got it. A big Humanitarian, liked to give to charity and such. What he voted for and his actual political views are, as far as I know, unknown.

One's politics shouldn't be our only judge of their worth.. especially with artists.

Pavarotti was a liberal, though.

Back in the day I studied opera and sang it to the best of my abilities, all because I was inspired by this guy. But Pavarotti's dead, Vonnegut's dead....oy, this just puts me in a cynical mood.

Redcannon, sing, sing, sing. What else? Bust a gut, but sing! Die one day but not today. Sing you son of all our history, and make it better than you ever did before. Sing!

It is quite strange that he only became really famous because of the football.

I feel sympathy for the Italians, I know what it's like to lose a tenner.
