There are reports that Vice President Dick Cheney's office has issued instructions to conservative think tanks to start a drumbeat for attacking Iran.

The American Enterprise Institute is hosting two events related to Iran. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is giving a speech on how the war on terrorism should be viewed as a "a world war that pits civilization against terrorists and their state sponsors who wish to impose a new dark age." Later in the day former CIA director Jim Woolsey and others will meet to discuss a new book by longtime Iran hawk Michael Leeden titled "The Iranian Time Bomb: The Mullah Zealots" Quest for Destruction." The Heritage Foundation recently hosted an interagency Bush administration war game attempting to anticipate Iranian responses to a U.S. bombing campaign.

Meanwhile the Sunday Times of London has reported the Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive air strikes against twelve hundred targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians' military capability in three days. The main source of the article was an official at another conservative Washington think tank – the Nixon Center.

The war on terror is the destructive death cry of the most reactionary and authoritarian sect of the national bourgeoisie trying to maintain American hegemony by controlling the world's oil spigot, in the face of the inevitable rise of a post-modern Empire which, by creating many parallel centers of accumulation, will render all previous conceptions of imperialism inadequate. Within decades, we will see power shift from America to a distributed structure with China, Iran, India, and Venezuela competing for hegemony, and America will have gone the way of Britain. Either the neocons retain power, perpetuating wars through Iran and the rest of the middle east; or the liberals win, and America will relinquish its hegemony (relatively) quietly.

I have noticed a large number of typical aggression type propaganda stories. It seems like the slander that Bush was committing on Iraq is now being inflicted on Iran. The standard is the 'Iranian weapons found in Iraq" line. These stories are unprovable, and the kind of 'provocation' that first-strikers like to use.

Liberals are just as big of warmongers as conservatives, you seem to forget that they are in fact two sides of the same coin serving the same interests of the same people, and if those interests require armed force then it doesn't matter if there is a Dem or Rep in the white house.

actually I very strongly condemn any toolbag who criticizes Chavez ;)

and I always used to listen to Mike Malloy all the time (and I even think he got the term "Bush crime family" from my rantings online) I also liked Janeane Garafalo alot too tho and shes gone as well
