I got in a discussion with a friend of mine about this, and it seems to be that the concept of '3rd party intervention' in the means of something as sacred or as private as a last will is something that cannot be disturbed.
My question to you is, do you believe all should be banned in terms of inheritance? I figured only the passing of wealth, realistically.
It's a hard situation, though. What do you think?

inheritence should be limited rather than being banned totally.
Some things may have great personal value to the family which while they may or may not have great financial value, are far less significant belonging to other persons. For example, My grandparents have plaques commemorating lost relatives during the first world war and I have a rather large medal and trophy collection, these items have little financial value, however they do have high personal value.
However, financial empires should not be inherited, inheriting a business is way too much like feudelism to me.

I disagree.
Unless the inheritence is something crucial to a families survival, like life insurance, it should be outlawed. It's unfair that someone gains non-essential property/materials simply because of their name or relationship to the deceased.
Inheritence is something invented by capitalists to make sure corporations/businesses are always run by the same people.

Life insurance is a good way of supporting people incase of premature death.
However I don't see how forcing people to sell possessions which aren't actually worth anything because no one else would want them is going to is going to do anyone any good. Obviously selling the deceased persons house is going to get quite a bit of money, but small things aren't going to get very much.
Or how about a system where people are taxed if they want to inherit possessions?

About 99% of things inherited are worth money. That's probably the only reason people want them.
As for pictures, toys, and other petty little things, they can be inherited. When people mean inheritence, they usually mean property.

Yeah, I was refering to little things like toys, pictures and the like, personal things which no else would want.
What about slightly larger items donated to a local organization rather than to an individual, eg. weightlifting bench to local sports club?

Maybe there could be like a tariff on inheritances which rises in percentages in certainblocks as the amount of inheritance goes up.
I dont know, I know nothing about this. Maybe that happens anyway. Just seems a good idea.

I believe there is a graduated tariff system at the moment based on the total of all things being inherited, although I don't know precise details as I am not involved in any soliticiting.
