Too schmaltzy. Why would they grow to trust the cap, and why would the cap act without self-interest. They don't do that. That's why they're ****s and we're not (save Fidelbrand :P )
It wasn't political so much as "romantic" (not 'Romantic', like I, or roses, or P.B. Shelley) If it was political, it would end either in the style of Eisenstein, where the proletariat throw their chains to earth like dew; or a really fucking miserable ending where they get fucked over (for some reason I'm thinking British film)

What's more, there'll be a Hollywood version with Jake Gyllenhall. <_< joy

I just watched this movie last night. I thought it was pretty good but some parts were unrealistic and silly.

The ending was pretty cool though: "Some people never change."

I thought it was entertaining.

I watched it several years ago.

The song "Hallelujah" was repeated so much in this film that near the end I literally felt that I was almost gonna throw up because of it.

Because humans are flawed, we're trusting and most of us can feel empathy - sometimes this empathy comes back to bite us in the arse.

That's a very black and white view of the world

Not all of 'us' are angels and all of them '****s' - you need to take off the ideological blinkers.

Besides, the cappie ratted them out to the cops - he (sucessfully) played the humanism of his captors, only to stab them in the back as soon as he got the chance - he lacked compassion and was untrustworthy.

As a generalised statement about the rich (NOT that the characters of die edukators are not meant to be read as archetypes of the 'proletariat' and the 'bourgeoisie' - that's a very crude reading) it's hardly positive is it?

That they lack humanity?

Empathy?

Well if by 'political' you mean 'hackneyed' or 'clichéd,' perhaps.

Personally, i prefer films where the world, human beings, are portrayed the way they really are - complex, nuanced things - and in full colour! <_<

The very idea that you would compare yourself to Percy Bysshe Shelley is utterly rediculous - in fact I think it's an insult to Romanticism that you would put you and he in the same sentence.

Also this thread, which is essentially shit that has dribbled slowly out of your anus, reveals the ending to a film and as such you should put '*Contains Spoilers*' under the title - do you not agree?

Thank you :D. I know it's picky but it can spoil a film for someone - we need to differenciate between a review and a discussion of a film/book.
