Trajectories of Dissent is a decentralised (multi-venue) exhibition which seeks to make a visual intervention into current representations of protest focused on the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

The current political climate in Australia is one where voices of dissent are sidelined and delegitimised by both government and mainstream media.
In such a climate it is important that protest against APEC be understood within its global context and recognised as legitimate and effective by Australian communities.

Trajectories of Dissent exhibition contains material depicting past mobilisations in the Asia-Pacific region against APEC's promotion of neoliberal free trade economic policies. The exhibition aims to contextualise dissent in Australia against APEC this year. The photos will demonstrate the diversity of groups, causes and struggles which have mobilised against APEC and whom form part of a global movement for social, environmental and trade justice.

Trajectories of Dissent has also invited local artist and community member participation in the creation of artistic responses to APEC. This is to infuse regional dissent with local perspectives on APEC's role in the Asia-Pacific.

The exhibition will be an opportunity to connect local action to the global anti-APEC movement.
