View Full Version : Is there too much focus on minorities?

I know one of the purposes is so that there are not places minorities can't go safely. There are many. There are still "sundown towns" in many areas at least de facto, they are not a thing of the past. Still, there are also plenty of places I cannot go as a white person, such as the inner-city. So do we only fight white neo-nazi gangs or do we need to start fighting minority gangs that keep people of other races out of their neighborhoods too? I think a black gang that makes it unsafe for whites and hispanics or a hispanic gang that does the same to blacks and whites is just as bad as white gangs or white people that do not accept minorities in their community. To me it is racism. I think we are being too politically correct in this forum by only focusing on the fascism of whites. I know whites are the most nazi and fascist, because they make up the most people in the west, but I tend to think of other groups as fascist too.

Minority gangs do not want to take power and clear their country of other "minorities" like jews, blacks, etc. like Nazis would do. Yet both are a symptome of capitalism.

we are oppose to both as a gang as their both type of racism.
as for why we mostly focuses on Nazi’s and other fascists because they are a major force and pose a much more counter-revolutionary threat then say some small local street game. also Nazi' and fascist pose a much more political threat as they do hold positions of power in “our” government.

I don't know if, let's say...Norteño or Sureño/Crip or Blood gangs are that politically conscious. All they seem to complain about is the police, besides each other of course. Still, I can see them joining a revolution once they notice it would help liberate themselves from the 'shackles' of the welfare state, improve their living conditions and those around them, and that they're all part of the same oppressed class. Ever see the movie The Warriors? A situation like in the opening scene with the speech and all the gangs in the city meeting to plan a takeover of the local government would be sweet.
Edit: Talking to a 'ganster' and educating them gradually so that they could tell their 'gang' could be a way to spread word about class consciousness to other contacts. It could be useful in the longrun. I have talked to a few of my old friends who are in some form of small group and helped get them interested in radicalism.

Do you actually have personal experience with this or is this just media induced paranoia? Michael Moore's bowling for columbine covered a bit of this, when he and some journalist visited a gang infested neigbourhood.
Since this has to do with racism and "reverse racism", remember who has a monopoly on economic and political power, white people. If racism towards minorities is accepted and not confronted, it will lead to acceptance in economic and political institutions, ppl like David Duke and the BNP can easily take power. That's why "reverse racism", although wrong, is not a big issue because minorities do not hold much economic and political power.
Jewish Defense league(JDL) are extremist and should be opposed, again because Zionist hold alot of economic and politcal power.

we should distinguish whether minorities are fascists groups or criminal gangs. i suppose most of them don't think about politics or racism at all - their behaviour is just criminal. they use a kind of racist determination, but it's just the indication of their unions. first you should find a friend (your same-skin tone neighbour) and then fight the enemy (everyone who is different from you).

Please, not the "hate crime against whites" BS. Which has been refuted in many ways. The gangs, of course, are simply criminals, and in fact commit most of their crimes against other people of the same ethnicity living in the same neighborhoods. And incidentally, nothing seems to keep white junkies from going to get their fix in the most depressed ghetto neighborhoods.
Or should we be fighting for "law and order" against common criminals? No, that generally tends to strengthen the authority of the state and is not associated with progressive politics.
When working people begin organizing for our rights, and take control of our communities, often that does involve clearing out criminals as well. But that's a byproduct - if you start by targeting the criminals that just leads into a dead-end of right-wing vigilantism. Also you get bogged down fighting with criminals without first gathering strength by mobilizing people against the the bosses and state.
Fighting fascism is something else: it's a political movement which is a danger to the working class and our organizations. As the German and other experiences show, fascism can smash the working-class movement more thoroughly than anything else. Which is why bosses like Krupp sometimes support it, despite fascists' radical-sounding rhetoric.
More generally:
it's simply BS to draw an equals sign between the oppressed and the oppressor. If you're questioning whether there are oppressed and oppressor anymore, of course there are, and the proof starts with the economics.
You might as well say: yes, the employers do bad stuff to workers, but sometimes workers strike against the employers and use violence. Shouldn't we oppose both?
No, in order to oppose exploitation and oppression it's necessary to take sides with the oppressed and exploited.

Yeah, or that "Bomb the Suburbs" guy, Upski. On his book tour he made a point of walking through the most dangerous neighborhood in every city he visited, to make a point about exaggerated fear of crime. Nothing happened to him.
I've lived in more than one Black neighborhood. I worked and walked a picket line - heck, I had the evening picket shift - in one of my city's most bombed-out ghettos. And.....hm. Somebody stole my hubcaps once, but actually that was in a more college-y neighborhood. The in-laws used to get scared about us living there, even...then somebody stole their pickup truck out of their driveway, in a white working-class suburb.
Serious and even horrific crimes happen, of course. I know people who've been robbed at gunpoint. But yeah, there's a lot of exaggerated fear out there, and the idea that there are places white people can't go is definitely one of them.

Are you a fucking racist? We focus on miniorities because they actually fucking need to be focused on, because they're the ones being oppressed the most. I'm surprised you haven't been restricted. Yeah, you can go through a Black neighborhood as a white guy and get hurt..you know why? Because of Racist fucks, apparently like you.

I actually live in a rather diverse, but poor and dangerous neighborhood. Over eight years of me living there I have had 1 serious problem (a guy stole $20 out of my hand in a gas station).
Aside from the troublemakers that existed on the south side, I have had no problems on the north side (of Milwaukee). White people CAN walk through the innercity. I do it every day. I do it at 3 at night. I won't deny that some people (who happen to be either rowdy kids or mentally unstable) harass me about my skin color. No hate should be ignored, but don't overblow it.
You want to know something that might shock you--even in a city like Milwaukee which has high racial tensions, I have encountered black people of all ages and both sexes who've asked me if I'm ok and if I feel safe!
Contrast that with the fact that I've only encountered one guy who was leafleting on behalf of the Nutburgers of Islam!
Seriously, you should take a walk through a neighborhood like mine. See for yourself.
