I realize that in a communist society their is no reason to have insurance because health care and repaires after an accident would be free. However, that won't happen untill the world turns red. During that time between capitalism and communism (some know it a socialism) we would need insurance and I assume the insurance "company" would be state run.

so, what would the socialist insurance policy be? What would it cover?

I have no clue, I think that the state would offer insurance, but I'm not sure how it would work.

Healthcare is free in Britain, does that make it socialist?

depends on the type of insurance.

if you're thinking health, then probably not. health care costs will be taken out of taxes. housing insurance will be state covered more than likely.

I can imagine something like a, "no fault" insurance type for auto drivers.

In Cuba, car insurance is optional. The state covers those who are insured.

Why would we need it?

Health care is covered, housing is covered(for the most part), jobs are covered.

if you get injured you get your medical care, if your house is damaged you can get it fixed for a small amount of money, and if all else fails you have a job to pay for things

I guess you'd only need it for cars and death
