Since this is a forum for Leftists, I was wondering if anyone was a fan of the greatest Left-Wing band of all time (them or RATM) and one of the overall best bands ever.

As you can tell by my username I'm quite a fan. :D The Holy Bible is one of the most immense albums ever, and Everything Must Go is pretty damn fine album as well, as are Generation Terrorists and Gold Against The Soul. Send Away The Tigers has also proved that they never really "lost it".

I used to like their music a lot, though, bar a few songs, i was never really into the stuff they did before Everything Must Go. The Holy Bible is for nihilists.

Really? I think the first three albums are excellent. I disagree with the nihilst comment regarding The Holy Bible. It's my 2nd favourite album of all time and I am in no way a nihilist.

I liked them before I got into heavier stuff, though I only ever liked the first three albums. The Holy Bible probably is for nihilists, but it is a pretty interesting album owing to how fucked up it is. I find that kind of thing appealing aesthetically even though I am no nihilist.

holy bible was a great album I think "archives of pain" was have a very strong political background actually most of the manic street... song has a political background because of richey's interest in politics but I think they're lost their strong attitude after richey's dissapear...

Richey was a lot less into politics than Nicky. And Archives of pain is not about politics, but about justification for the death penalty from a victims point of view.

All the Manics best political lyrics come from Wire. If you tolerate.., ifwhiteamerica.., A design for Life, Masses, etc. All Wire.

And it is utter crap to say that the manics have become worse since Edwards vanished. In many ways they got better. GATS, while a good album is not even nearly as good as EMG or even their latest effort, Send Away the Tigers. Indeed EMG is, among the fan community considered by many as being the second best album they made, if not the best.

Fucking love them. I saw them at Wembley Arena in 2004 and they were amazing. I think, politically, the best album is Know Your Enemy but no one seems to agree. :(

I'd just like to point out that even though they're notorious Socialists, Richey was pro-capital punishment, as reflected in Archives Of Pain.

Oh, yet another thread about this guys...they are good, their first 3 albums are interesting and consistent and my impression about them improved over time.
