How were those rock columns formed?

I always spend time there when I want to freeze my nuts off.
How were those rock columns formed?
Intense volcanic activity millions of years ago. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant%27s_causeway)
Or Fionn mac Cumhaill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fionn_mac_Cumhaill) did it.
Take your pick.

Yeah, kinda didnt meet my expectations. i expected it to be alot more, it is, literally, all thats in those photo's - there isnt any more to it. Its hardly a wonder of the world or anything.
Though it could be that the tide is in and it is covering more of it, but I doubt it. Im sure its worth a vistit when the weather is good, but not when its lashing :D

Great pictures. I was there a couple of years ago - took a ferry trip for the day while staying in Port Patrick in Scotland.
Northern Ireland is such a beautiful and rugged place - it's a surprise when you're from England and all you've seen is images of the place in relation to the conflict. We did drive through an estate with red, white and blue curb stones, which was weird to see in the flesh, so to speak, and we passed some 'police stations' with a very military appearance.
I wish we'd had the time and money to stay in Belfast for a couple of days as it looked like a really interesting city!

Things shouldnt be spectacular...spectacularity only blinds you to nature.

Yeah, the police stations look like barracks. The Ardmore station is Newry looks like a fortress.
