Does Iraq recognise Israel?

Does anyone know if post-Saddam Iraq has opened diplomatic relations with, officially recognised the existence of or supported peace negotiations with Israel?

I don't think that they do, given the power the Shia Islamist parties hold in the government. I cant confirm for sure though.

If not, does this mean America is propping up a regime that wants to wipe Israel off the map? :rolleyes:

As far as I know, Iraq is a puppet-regime. The new Iraqi ruling body don't want the US to leave - so if they want them to have relations or recognize Israel, then they will, I suppose.

They don’t have any diplomatic ties at the moment. Most Iraqi leaders try to avoid this issue, because they want to appease both the US, who don’t tolerate any criticism of Israel, and the Iraqi people, most of whom oppose diplomatic relations with Israel.

No, and their general position is that they will not establish formal ties except as part of an entire Arab initiative.
