Spreading the Word

I'm going to try and make a Xanga political blog and all.

Besides the "do you have a blog?" thread, how do you get the word out about your blog, especially since Xanga is so widely used. I don't want to make a website because 1.)Can't afford 2.)Dunno how to do HTML or whatever. So yeah. Any tips?

I once had a blog, got lucky and had a top 40,000 site to link to me. The traffic just rolled in. 1000's of visitors came, comments and all kinds of goodies. Got a up to a Google page rank of 3.

Xanga is good for the community and social networking it offers, but there's a reason top blogs aren't hosted by Xanga. Personally I prefer Wordpress, Blogger is good and they both offer free hosting via a subdomain.

My advice, write good/original content. Link to your site on forums and such. Comment on other similar blogs and link to your site. Soon enough you will find your traffic steadily climbing. Just don't expect instant success, unless you are lucky.
