Hi,

I found this forum via link posted at Internet Infidels.

I'm a history student interested in Marxist (and 'marxist') approaches, especially re early-modern and modern British society.

Good to meet you both. I have in my past student endeavours covered topics such as Chartism and Anglo-Saxon England but for my anticipated dissertation topic I'm already reading around the subject of British leisure c.1750-1850. It's an interesting subject in its own right but is great as a means of linking into other apsects of a pre- (or proto-) industrial society transformed into an all-out capitalist industrial one.

Anyway, I'm already rambling, great to know there are some other history students here!

Hey and welcome! I did a bit of history at uni, I then stopped following it... However, there are lots of interesting things over in the History forum, and being able to write about random bits of history instead of the same old 20th bullshit (Russian Revolution, Stalin, Trotsky, Spanish Civil War...) will be good. These topics get discussed to death all the time...

Anyway, have fun!

Marxists learn from the past and the Russian and Spanish revolutions are the best examples. They're not bullshit :( .

Sorry, they aren't bullshit. It is just that the discussions on the matters are bullshit, and filled with sectarian nonsense.
