What, if anything, do you think would be diffirent about your political ideals/beliefs. Do you think socialism/marxism would be in a stronger or weaker position than it is currently.

I don't see how there'd be any way to tell.
I like "what if" questions, but they have to be fairly detailed in nature in order to propose any kind of rational "alternate scenario".
In your example, why did the Soviet bloc not collapse? Depending on the details, Marxism might be stronger or might be weaker than it is now.
Personally, I've been a critical opponent of the Leninist version (all variants) of Marxism since 1970 or thereabouts...so the fate of the USSR, etc. just confirmed the views I already had.

the Soviet Union was socialist but it was bent and distorted i think that when Gorbachev had come to power in the Soviet Union that if it hadn't been in so much trouble we could of seen a true socialist paradise but there is always oposition so the main aims have to be changed and are messed up never to be retrived
Cuba for example if it didn't have America as its enemy it could work on socialism more and not bother with anything else really

There's a saying. 'What did 45 years of Socialism fail to do what ten years of Capitalism has done? Proved that Capitalism doesn't work.'

the fate of the union was sealed the second the working classes were deemed unable to represent themselves.
Lenin had the right ideas for revolution, but I disagree with his stance in regards to the vanguard.
