Genre of Music

Well as I wondered about this latest thing about bands formerly labled as emo now being labled Alternative, such as My Chemical Romance, The Used, Fall Out Boy. One year ago these were considered emo bands and now (possibly because emos are afraid of being emo) they are "alternative" so I thought I might ask up here for a clariffication on if it had changed.

Then I thought, having a threat where all members could ask what Genre of music a band or song is they can feel open to.

So I would like start it by asking, have bands like My Chem. and F.O.B. turned Alternative over night?

They aren't alternative and they aren't emo, they are just pop-rock and they always have been.
