How did a simply joking post turn in to a religious debate?
i laugh a little but cormacobear does make a point .... i mean sure its ok to poke fun at religion, it's ok to have a friendly laugh about Jesus, and honestly it is amusing to me that every couple of months someone finds the likeness of jesus on a tortilla chip or a stain on a highway underpass ....
but seriously it sorta stops being funny when members here post intentionally offensive material concerning a group (such as Christians) on such a regular basis that even persons who appear to have been able to stomach the continued nonsensical anti-Christian rants (such as Cormacobear) are pushed to leave revleft .....
honestly is this how you want to be spending day after day .... posting pictures of animal assholes doctored to insult people?
i'm of the opinion that the left should avoid insulting people whenever necessary, disagree?
i know there are at least a handful of Christian Communists here and overall they have taken the continued slander very well, but as Cormacobear's post proves you can only alienate someone for so long until they pack it up and go home. now some of you might be thinking "good, let him go, in fact all the Christians on rev left should just leave and then we can bash Christianity all we want and laugh to each other about how funny we are and how stupid the Christians are"
well if that is what you believe then i pity you for your lack of study and your knack for burning bridges .... i will spare you the arguments that have been repeated so many times in defense of jesus as a progressive force, of the church as educators throughout history, of the catholics endorsement of evolution ... you have no doubt heard them before and yet continue to post flame bait such as this .....
anyway do as you will .....
I see. Well, I don't see that kind of picture alot so I laughed, it never got tiresome to me like it did to you guys. I completely agree with you, but what people find funny differs, and it's acceptable to have a little laugh all the time. Apparently the original poster found this picture funny and wanted to share it with us.
Also, the majority of posters I've seen on RevLeft are either Non-Religious or Atheist/Agnostic, so I could see some posters making fun of figures such as Jesus. I dunno, I just think that it should have been taken as a little joke.
