Many say application of socialism in todays world is impossible. What do you guys think of this? How do you think Socialism can be applied in a "modernized" country? Any examples or links would be extremely helpful. thanks

Spitfirerib, to answer your question, I'd want to know why "they" thought it was "impossible"?
The general line of "socialism is impossible" runs something like this:
1. It's against God's Will.
2. It's against human nature.
3. It's too simple for a complicated modern economy.
To be honest with you, I think those "arguments" are so irredeemably stupid as to not be worth replying to or considering in any way.
Still, if you find that you must reply, here are the "short" answers.
1. There are no "gods".
2. There is no scientifically credible definition of "human nature".
3. A socialist economy would be, in marginal ways, somewhat simpler than capitalism...but there is no known reason why socialism could not produce any particular good or service that is presently available under capitalism...and make it far more available to more people, if that was thought desirable.
If you find that people around you are saying things like this, make new friends.

thanks redstar.
when i said "people" i meant our society as a whole who has been "brainwashed" into hating socialism and communism through forced ignorance.
the arguments made are, as you said, irredeemably stupid but they are the are the arguments of the majority. i feel that to better "the cause" i must be prepared to counter the "arguments" with a better response than...'you ignorant capitalist fool'
:-D
