Has anyone had experience with this union? It's reasonably new to Australia, and is only in Melbourne at the moment, but apparently they've had some successful campaigns in New Zealand.

Australian (http://www.unite.org.au/) website, New Zealand (http://www.unite.org.nz/) one.

I haven't had much experience with them but I know a bit about them. They are strongly affiliated with the Socialist Party. They have also been accused of class collaboration in New Zealand with the Wananga-Unite deal. Moreover, they have a top-down managerial decision making structure (like most unions), and have been putting up signs on the doors of 'progressive' businesses which pay workers 'fairly'. I guess it might be said that they are 'better' than most unions, in the sense that they claim to be a fighting union, but for the reasons above I am wary of them.

I noticed a thread you posted on the IWW. If you would like me to give you some contacts in Sydney just let me know.

I'd really like some contact details for the Sydney IWW. Any other info about them would be awesome too.
Thanks. :)
And thanks for the info on the Unite stuff.
