Would a global currency -a currency used by all nations on earth- be benefitial to most people? Why or why not?

If done right, it would be beneficial.

Do you think the Euro has been done right as an international currency? I don't ask to provoke argument. I am just interested.

I don't see how a global currency could aid anyone but the international business man who must give the banks a service charge to convert his dollar into a euro or yuan. It wouldn't end oppression and it certainly wouldn't aid in the furthering of the world revolution.

Why would it be so?

Because it would reduce transaction costs and make trade easier. Greater trade leads to greater wealth and the raising of the standard of living.

The Euro was done reasonably well for a fiat currency. I suspect the ideal currency would be based on a gold standard and supervised by an international consortium.
