What newspaper do you buy and why? It doesn't matter what country you are from and it can be a daily, weekly newspaper.
I'm from Ireland and my parents buy the Irish Independent daily and The Sunday Times- I don't know why after all its Murdoch owned right-wing garbage.
And since this is in the learning section what newspaper would you recommend for a young socialist to read?

I dont read newspapers, and when I do, my head gets melted with all the crap thats in them. I could think of more unorthodox things to do with them (ill leave that up to your imagination :D ).
The Irish Independent would be a big NO. I used to buy it before I discovered better reading in the Irish Times - who also the odd time publish news and articles of interest to the leftwinger. But consider that the editor is a Progressive Democrat, and so the far left is considered the Labour party - anything beyond is off the spectrum.
If you must read the censored right-wing garbage - then read the Irish Times. Otherwise, stick to good sources on the Internet for relevent news - after all - newspapers have had their day!!
Another alternative, and which is also usually available on-line, are party papers - the IRSP for example have "The Starry Plough". The SWP the "Socialist Worker". The Communist party of Ireland the "Socialist Voice" etc etc - all available on the Internet.
Some are good, some are terrible. Most are biased towards their party - and so the objectivity of the news is at risk and can be a big let down. Their content can be very limited also as they dont have the funds that the mainstream news papers have, nor the volunteers willing to contribute.
So, again, stick with the internet. Indymedia.ie, Anarkismo.net and many many others.....
Also - read and understand things like Chomsky's theories on the media - you will be repulsed every time you look at a TV or newspapers again. :)
