There's been a lot of debate over this recently as the US Foreign Affairs Committee is currently discussing a resolution calling for Japan to formally apologize for its use of comfort women during WWII. Of course, the Japanese prime minister and other officials still deny that Chinese and Korean sex slaves were forced into sexual enslavement.
