Smoer, you have to ask yourself what is more important - luxuries, like like big-screen TVs, fancy cars and private swimming pools, or basic human needs like food, clean water, shelter, healthcare and the like. If the latter is more important to you, oppose the capitalist system which brought the majority of the world to a state in which they lack those elemantry things. If TVs and cars are more important to you, support the capitalist system. You can't be a communist while supporting the bourgeois.

Think about the Luxuries.

How did they get made, how did the resources for this luxury get into the factory?

Who profits more from this: The poor or the rich?

Think deeply about these luxuries. Are you glad that you posses it, even though the people who helped made it suffer from exploitation, shortage of food, no homes, and lack of these luxuries you have?

You say you are happy that capitalism brought that luxury to you. We are happy with that, however we think capitalism has it's faults and that there is a better alternative.

BTW may I know your definition of communism? Because alot of people are misinformed on the subject, a while ago a guy asked me how I could disagree with the war in Iraq while I am a communist...(well he asked it like this: "Hoe kan je tegen de oorlog zijn terwijl je communist bent?" )

You can't proof a denial and at the other hand Captalism doesn't have a goal.

Communism does and it's a very difficult goal, creating equality for all.

As a marxist (marx=commie), you have to be a communist.

And stop trying, because such thing has never happend in history before is as sick as stealing food from a hungry man. For everything there has to be a first time.

There will be entertainment items in communism too... it is just that everyone will have equal access to them.

smoer, in my opinion you could only be classified as a marxist/communist if you were willing to give up the luxuries you are very fortunate enough to have in the capitalist society, for lesser items, equality and socialism.

Who knows, maybe after communism has been running smoothly a few years you and the people may have better luxuries than you had in capitalism!

Theatre was rather important and very good in the Soviet Union; what with the operas, the choirs and the stage and film. Values which are sought in the socialistic society.

Marxism is communism, though communism as an ideology existed for many years before Marx wrote it down, they are the same things. There is no such thing as Marxist-communism. You think of communism as what the USSR had as their doctrine, I gather.

You're right in saying that communism hasn't worked and that equality was not gained in the Soviet Union, this is because of corruption and skewed ideals as well as tyranny. Communism is an ideology as written by Karl Marx. The past does not change an idea and goal.

The Soviet Union was socialist, not communist. Also, keep in mind that entertainment in USSR reflected the technology of the time. While there might be theatre in a future communist country/world, the entertainment will most likely be computer based (or some future technology that hasn't even been invented yet). Just some stuff to think about.

Could all be.I think if you could work communism out perfect that it would be a paradise .In the beginning it is gonna work but after a wile there will be a bourgoeisie and de workers again because the workers who control the land will get rich by the taxes ==>the workers get even more poor
