Recently a friend of mine asked me about "Metro Punk" and I pretty much said I'd never heard of it before, did some research and asked around a bit, and turned up with nothing. So before I tell her flat out that there is not such thing as Metro Punk, at least that is known to more of a society then just her four friends that were speaking about it, I want to know if any one has ever heard of it before? If so can you fill me in on what it is?

Nah she had been told about it in title only by a friend of hers and wondered if i knew what it was.
is it, like... city punk? or Metrosexual punk?
Thats what I thought and I told her that they would be the only things I could possibly think it would be.

Can you send me to the link that you found for it if you found it on the internet, if not, just a bit of a brief description would be much appreasiated.
Thanks.

Hmm... Just did a google search.. The only thing that came up was a Christian Rock band
Metro Punk web page
Metro Punk was started with the intent of creating a band with good clean lyrics and a positive message. Although our lyrics are intentionally not all "christian" the gospel is not missed in our live show. We believe it is our responsibility as christians to spread the gospel. We don't want to force our beliefs on anyone else, we want to to simply give the people a chance to hear about the gospel.
Meet the band and
And that's it. I couldn't look at any of the other pages, as the site seems to be down (http://metropunk.com/)...
If you want to see there web-site while its down, you can look at the front-page. Under the description (http://www.google.com/search?q=metro+punk&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official) of the first link, there will be a "casche" link right by the web address. Only a red background with the above quote will come up though as the images don't seem to work.
They also seem to lack a Myspace page, which seems like a must-have for any small band nowadays.

Thanks RCB.
Myspace page, which seems like a must-have for any small band nowadays.
I know and i find it very unfortunate that this is what the music industry has come to, new bands being found by a so called community network that sends out people only to be met by more people who all show no caring while thinking they do. [I hate myspace, sorry]

If you want positive hardcore (posicore) or positive punk look no further than the Youth Crew movements and some of the old hardcore punk bands from NoCal. Youth of Today, Jude, Bold, even 7 seconds, and then later bands like Ten Yard Fight etc.
I like you IcarusAngel. You like good music.

Yeah... Not too many hardcore punk fans around here I think.
And I do generally like the positive hardcore bands that were around yet they surprisingly aren't very popular with a lot of the political punks I meet, which is odd considering that many of them were anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-fascist. I think some of the only semi-Marxist bands were also of that same positive hardcore variety. Really with the exception of maybe Boston I think most of the good hardcore was very positive. Most leftist punks though are down with anarcho-punk, more mainstream poppish punk, but that's all good too.

It's one of my more favored genres of punk, though Oi! and Anarcho-Punk/Crust are front-n'-center for me. Void, Millions of Dead Cops, SS Decontrol, YDI, Black Flag, and DOA are some of my favorites.
