PSOPHY: Socialism - what makes us socialist??

why the need to be socialist? why have ppl become "socialist"? can there be democracy without socialism( i think not )??

Why the need to be socialist? I don't believe there is a need for the individual, It would be a thousand times easier just to get a cushy job and get paid well, but this isn't about me, this is about the liberation of the human race and their is a definate resposibility for humans to make life better for future generations and end the exploitation of one person by another.

Why become socialist? I became a marxist in January 2002, I really wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but it was enlightening, as so I remain :)

Can there be democracy without socialism? A very, very rudimentary proto-democracy where one only gets 1 vote every 3 years, more democracy than that wouldn't be in the interest of the ruling class
