Sounds a hell of a lot better than the shit-hole I went to!
Questions: Is this a public school or a private school run "for profit"?
How do kids "qualify" for this school? Money? Tests? Geographical residence?
Are the teachers unionized? What kinds of "rules" do they enforce? Do they drug test kids? Search lockers?
Definitely an interesting place.

Just a question:
Would it be a good thing for students to (e-)learn from their homes rather than in school buildings?-- interaction with classmates and teachers could be going over the internet-- like we are learning from each other on this board.. at least we hope to do so!

My personal preference would have been to go to school on-line.
But people are different; some people actually like the "excitement" of gathering in a huge building full of strangers.
It's a matter of taste, I think.

If they could find an efficient way to do it I would love to have these (especially wanting to be teacher) I could teach the history of Aparthied while I'm in my underware eating crunch berries

No, I think that the interaction between students and educators as found in schools is very healthy. I'm not saying that the education system found in American schools today is perfect, I'm just saying that some school-building where students come to learn is necessary. A public union of young people learning and sharing ideas is vital. Interaction via the internet is not complete.

I like the social aspect of school. Especially for younger children I think school is about learning and developing socially as well as academically. Some of this could be done online, but not all. Children need to learn how to interact with one-another in real-world situations, and this is at least as important as the basic academic skills and knowledge taught at school.

Physically talking to other people is one of the most important aspects in school, considering how pointless my life would be if I didn't have casual social problems to worry about.
I also disagree that public schools are about brainwashing. If anything my public school pushed me towards the left.

Remember though, not everyone is social (and many have "problems" with socializing that should not be repressed). In a socialist state there should be alternatives forms of education for people with different personalities than the majority.

My history teacher in 9th Grade said "Capitalism is basically some system of organized greed." Then he had an Anarchist come in and talk to the class. Then one of the other 9th Grade history teachers taught his kids that Socialism was perfect.
Then we have the Anarchist Iberian Spanish teacher. Crazy stuff.
